SpeedFit

Over the last month I was invited by Paula at North Perth SpeedFit to give this “smarter” workout a go. I wanted to know whether this form of exercise was going to be appropriate for my clients and the overall benefits…the answer is YES !

What is SpeedFit?

SpeedFit uses EMS technology used mainly once per week for a 20 minute period. The company promises 960 contractions across the 8 major muscle groups. It uses electrical impulses that contract your muscles whilst you perform sustained or dynamic movements.

At First Glance

My experience was fantastic. Paula greets you with a smile and installs so much confidence those nerves melt away. SpeedFit North Perth provides you with your training attire, pre and post workout nutrition, shower facilities (deodorants, soap, hair supplies, moisturisers). This is not your average gym, the sessions are more clinical in feel and tailored to your needs.

Paula will ask you to get changed into a shirt and shorts. She will then take great pleasure in hooking you up to the wet (wet for conduction) suit with the electrodes.

Settings are tailored to you- so you can choose how strong you want/ are comfortable with the contractions.

The 20 minutes will commence and Paula will take you through multiple exercises (static and dynamic) whilst you attempt to breath the whole time.

I was truly surprised how tough this workout was, sweat and my usual red face certainly made an appearance.

Who is SpeedFit for?

I would highly recommend SpeedFit for injured clients who require a low impact exercise routine, focusing on rebuilding particular muscle groups.  In saying this Speedfit can be tailored for all ages – the workout can be made more vigorous with stronger muscle contractions.
