Why Physiotherapy?

Whether you’re an athlete or not, there is probably a chance that you have needed to go to see a physiotherapist over the years. It can range from a big injury to simple “knots” in your muscles where a trip to the physiotherapist can do wonders to prevent further injuries. It’s always a good idea to seek a professional when it comes to managing pain so here are some reasons why you should book an appointment with a physiotherapist.

Pain Management

If you are currently suffering from any chronic pain, physios can use a range of techniques ranging from massage to dry needling which can help you have a speedy recovery, so you can return to your sport or daily activities without any pain.

Range of Motion

Whenever you have an injury your range of motion decreases and impacts your ability to do many of your everyday activities and chores as it becomes painful to move. It’s always a good idea to keep the rest of your body moving while injured as when you stop moving your whole range of motion decreases. A physiotherapist will give you a range of exercises to do at home to keep your range of motion and mobility while using a range of treatment to manage your pain.

Rehabilitation and exercise

For a fast recovery it is a good idea to see a physiotherapist as soon as possible as rehabilitation is an important part in your recovery. You naturally want to take the necessary precautions to prevent the same injury, or a further one, from happening again. This is an important motivation to strengthen the muscles of, or around, the injury as it heals. A physiotherapist will assess your injury and level of progress and give you exercises to do at home. Every time you go to for a follow up treatment, the physio will measure your level of improvement and accordingly increase or decrease the intensity or number of exercises they give you.

General Well-being

Manual therapy to your muscles and joints has been proven to lower anxiety and stress related to injury and everyday pains. Physiotherapy will enable you to return to your everyday activities pain free and timely. So, if you are looking for a speedy recovery Physiotherapy is a great option for you.   If you are still unsure if Physiotherapy is for you please feel free to contact one of our friendly receptionists or physio’s who are ready to aid you.
