Tendon Pain

Tendon issues are common in various parts of the body. We most commonly see them around the elbow, Achilles and hip region, however, they can occur nearly anywhere in the body.

They are usually insidious, meaning they come on overtime. In saying this, acute ruptures are not uncommon.

When tendon pain comes on insidiously, it is a usually a result of tissue overload through the region, whilst your level of activity is a factor, other things such as biomechanics (how you move), training surfaces, footwear, nutrition and even some medications can all be large contributing factors.

Treatment for such conditions usually focuses on strengthening the tendon to improve its ability to tolerate load whilst also working on any biomechanical factors that are placing undue stress on the tendon.

The Physiotherapists and Podiatrists at Mount Lawley Physiotherapy and Podiatry are very experienced in assessing and treating tendon related issues.
