Information you need regarding Orthotics

 Orthotics

Our feet are constantly changing shape and experience stress from walking. Increased stress can lead to changes in the way the foot and lower limb function, which can lead to strain on the joints, muscles, tendons and other soft tissue structures. Orthotics are designed to help support, realign, prevent and correct many foot and ankle deformities. In some cases, they can help with back/hip and knee dysfunction and pain, along with improving mobility and function of the body.

At Mount Lawley Physiotherapy and Podiatry, we use the latest 3D scanning technology, enabling our podiatrists to correctly scan your foot position and allow us to design a custom-made orthotic specifically for you.

The range of foot-related conditions orthotics can help with include, but not limited to:

 Orthotics
  • Plantar Fasciitis and Heel Spur Syndrome
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Ankle pain including acute/chronic ankle sprains
  • Shin Splints
  • Arthritis – Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Bunions (preventative and treatment)
  • Forefoot pain – Morton’s Neuroma, Plantar Plate Tear, Metatarsalgia, Hammertoes, claw toes
  • Calluses and corns
  • Diabetic foot
  • Leg length discrepancy
  • Treatment of problems with children – Flat feet, in/out-toeing, Sever’s Disease, Osgood-Schlatter’s Disease
  • Prevention of sporting injuries

Our orthotics can also be made in a range of different materials, widths and lengths to ensure you are able to wear footwear with minimal restrictions. The top cover can also be adjusted to suit your requirements.

If you already have orthotics and the cover is wearing away, we are more than happy to refurbish your orthotics to ensure they still look as new as when you first had them. They are also claimable through your health fund, depending on your level of cover. We are able to provide the item codes so you can find out how much you’ll be paying out of pocket.
